EWAI New Gas Chromatograph Product Design
Project Background
EWAI (East-West Analytical Instruments) is one of the earliest privately-owned analytical instrument companies in China. Its products are primarily used in fields such as agricultural research, food safety, coal mine safety, environmental monitoring, electronics and information technology, petrochemicals, and inspection and quarantine.
As analytical instruments continue to evolve toward greater intelligence and digitalization, EWAI, a leading analytical instrument manufacturer in China, sought to infuse a more modern and professional design language into its next-generation high-end gas chromatograph—the GC-4200. Taasdesign developed a comprehensive new design solution for the device, from appearance strategy to detailed execution, helping the brand present a forward-looking and professional image in the field of scientific research and laboratory equipment.

A New Functional Form: Smart Technological Experience
The next-generation GC-4200 balances practicality and aesthetics in both structure and visual design. A 10-inch angled external touchscreen serves as the central interaction hub, optimized for standing operation and remote monitoring.
We specially designed an embedded status-indicating logo that lights up automatically when the device is in operation. Paired with metallic accent plates, it enhances both the perceived quality and technological sophistication of the product. The logo features a glowing halo effect, providing clear operational cues and a strong visual focal point during use—further reinforcing brand recognition.
The front design features a vertical composition of the dark gray panel and the screen area, creating a more stable visual focus. The vertically stamped logo forms a balanced relationship with the touchscreen, enhancing the overall visual harmony.
The irregular geometric ventilation holes not only enhance the device’s modern appeal but also reflect the integration of industrial design with functional performance. On the side, the gray structural block extends forward to the injection port area, breaking away from the conventional box-like form and adding depth and visual tension to the overall design.

In this project, Taasdesign infused EWAI with a refreshed design language and renewed brand vitality, helping its product line move toward a more contemporary and professional image. The GC-4200 gas chromatograph made its debut at the exhibition, quickly becoming the center of attention with its modern design and advanced smart features.
The sleek and textured exterior, intuitive and efficient touch interaction experience, and the technological aesthetics revealed in the details not only fully demonstrate the product’s technical strength but also garnered high praise and enthusiastic response from industry experts and exhibition visitors alike.
